Brodie Cup Semi-final - The Oratory bow out

Sunday 4th Feb: The Oratory team went to Cambridge for the semi-final of the Brodie Cup. Andrew Woodward and Ian Glyn were first on in the 45+ doubles; they played very sensibly against two female undergrads, both lawn tennis blues, and won 0 & 4. Pete Harding, drafted in for the 30+ singles, played next against Roger East, the Cambridge captain. In the first set, everything went right for Pete and wrong for Roger; however, Roger fought back well in the second set which led to a tight deciding set before Roger & Cambridge won 0/6, 6/4, 6/5.
In the 40+ and 50+ singles, neither Tom Povey nor John Kennedy could find their form, loosing 3 & 2, and 3 & 3, respectively.
In the last match, Geoff Probert came in as a last minute partner for Peter Mawson but they were no match for a strong Cambridge 35+ pair, loosing 0 & 2.

Cambridge now go to Bridport in March for the final.
